Principal's Message

Dear Arovista Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I hope each of you are re-energized after the summer break and are looking forward to this year with excitement. I know I am.  I am looking forward to meeting our new families who will be joining the Arovista Allstar community and seeing familiar faces. We have several new additions to our staff. Please join me in welcoming our new professionals:

Gina Parrino - Front office substitute (and Arovista parent)
Darlene Root - Attendance Clerk
Kathy Fruh - Health Tech
Katy Bell - Library/Media Center
Lena Valdepena - Special Ed. Preschool
Mackenzie Ford - Special Ed.  Preschool
Melissa Stahley - Speech Pathologist
Gina McCann - School Psychologist
Mayra Caballero - Administrative Assistant (will start in October)

You will hear a very important 3-letter word this year-YET. As a school site, we will be empowering and encouraging our students about the power of YET and the concept of a “growth mindset.” Research shows that a growth mindset is the belief that with practice, perseverance, and effort, people have limitless potential to learn and grow. People operating in this growth mindset tackle challenges and are more interested in growth and not concerned with making mistakes. In the classroom, having a growth mindset can significantly improve student achievement. When students are struggling with a concept and feel they don’t understand, we want to emphasize the fact that they may not “get it” yet, but they will with continued effort.

Parent involvement is a key component to student success. I invite you to be involved in every aspect of your child’s education. Arovista welcomes you to our campus. Our PTA is an outstanding support with amazing parents that give to our school so generously. We couldn’t do what we do for our kids without them. Please join the PTA and see how you can get involved in your child’s experience. We need each and every one of you. In addition to our PTA, there are various ways to volunteer your time and expertise. Feel free to talk to your child’s teacher and/or shoot me an email. We need you!
As a reminder, students will not be allowed on campus until 7:45 a.m. Walkers will congregate by the front gate. Students taking the bus to school will walk to the blue tables by the cafeteria to wait quietly until the 7:45 bell rings. If you are dropping off by car, please wait in the parking spaces or in the car line until the bell rings. If you need to leave earlier, please drop off your child by the front gate to wait. Once students arrive on campus, they can socialize on the blacktop. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Back To School Night on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m. We will be able to provide more detailed information about your child’s education at this time. I hope you will join us.

If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at 714-529-2185 ext. 204, and by email at Please refer to our website for important information at I am looking forward to another outstanding year!
